Practice a language with an AI tutor
Chat with a small AI tutor that runs on your own device. Write or speak in the language you are learning: it replies in that language, gently corrects your mistakes and asks you questions.
Before you start
- The AI model (Google Gemma 3 1B) is downloaded once from Hugging Face: about 800 MB. Use Wi-Fi if your data plan is limited.
- It runs on your device and uses a lot of memory and battery. On older phones replies can be very slow; a computer works best.
- Your conversation stays in this browser and is not sent to our servers. The model comes from Hugging Face and the page code from jsDelivr.
- Speech input is processed on your device when your browser supports it. Otherwise we ask you before your voice is sent to an online speech service.
- The tutor is a small model and can make mistakes. Do not rely on it for exams or important translations.
- The model is provided under the Gemma Terms of Use.
