How to Translate a Google Meet Call in Real Time
Google Meet runs in a browser tab, which makes this simple: Caliptic translates whatever that tab plays, on your own computer.
Step 1 — Choose system audio
In Caliptic, set the source to your computer's audio rather than the microphone. Everything the Meet tab plays is then translated, no matter which participant is speaking.
Step 2 — Choose the languages
Select the spoken language and your own. The first time you use a pair, the language pack downloads once; from then on the call is translated with no connection needed.
Step 3 — Speak back (optional)
In Meet's settings, choose Caliptic's virtual microphone as the input device. Your speech goes into the call already translated, so you can answer without switching languages yourself.
Do I need a Chrome extension?
No. Caliptic works on the computer's audio, one layer below the browser, so it needs no extension and no permission inside Meet. Nothing changes in your browser setup.
Does it work if Meet is open in Safari or Firefox?
Yes. Caliptic does not care which browser produced the sound — it translates whatever your computer is playing. The same is true of the Meet desktop shortcut or a Meet call joined from another app.
