음성 녹음은 개인정보입니다. 화자를 구분할 수 있는 회의록도 마찬가지입니다. 즉 회의를 기록으로 옮기는 순간 개인정보 보호법(PIPA)이 적용됩니다. 처리가 기기 밖으로 나가지 않아도 그렇습니다.
개인정보 보호법이 요구하는 것
- 처리 근거. 동의는 여러 근거 중 하나이며, 고용 관계에서는 자유로운 동의로 보기 어려운 경우가 많습니다.
- 고지. 참가자는 녹음 사실, 목적, 보유 기간, 열람 범위를 알아야 합니다.
- 민감정보. 건강, 사상·신념, 노동조합 가입 등은 기준이 훨씬 높습니다.
- 정보주체의 권리. 열람, 정정·삭제, 처리정지.
- 보유기간. 녹음을 시작하기 전에 정해 두십시오.
- 국외 이전. 클라우드 서비스에서 가장 부담이 큰 부분입니다.
감독기구는 개인정보보호위원회(PIPC)입니다.
Caliptic Translate가 실제로 하는 일
음성 인식, 번역, 화자 분리, 회의 기록은 전부 사용자의 컴퓨터에서 실행됩니다. 오디오, 회의록, 제목은 당사나 제3자에게 전송되지 않습니다. 회의 모드에서는 원본 오디오를 전혀 저장하지 않으며, 디스크에는 텍스트로 옮겨진 내용만 사용자 계정 아래에 기록됩니다.
따라서 대화 내용에 관하여 당사는 그 정보를 수신하지 않습니다. 녹음을 시작한 사람이 처리의 목적과 방법을 정하는 사람, 즉 개인정보처리자입니다. 결과적으로 국외 이전 쟁점이 회의 내용에는 발생하지 않습니다. 전송 자체가 없기 때문입니다.
판매자로서 당사가 보유하는 것은 Merchant of Record인 Paddle을 통한 주문·구독 메타데이터뿐이며, 이는 개인정보 처리방침에서 설명합니다.
사용자의 책임
기기 내 처리는 이전과 수탁자 접근 문제를 없애지만 사용자의 의무를 없애지는 않습니다. 회의를 녹음한다면 근거를 갖추고, 참가자에게 알리고, 요청에 응하고, 필요한 기간만 보관하고, 끝나면 삭제하는 것은 사용자의 몫입니다.
South Korea — Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)
Voice recordings and speaker-separated transcripts are personal information under PIPA. The regulator is the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC).
- A processing ground — consent is one of several, and is weak in employment settings.
- Notice — purpose, retention period and who can access.
- Sensitive information — health, beliefs, union membership carry a much higher bar.
- Data subject rights — access, correction, deletion, suspension of processing.
- Cross-border transfer — the heaviest obligation for cloud services.
What Caliptic Translate actually does
Speech recognition, translation, speaker separation and meeting transcription run entirely on your own computer. Audio, transcripts and meeting titles are never transmitted to us or to any third party. In Meeting mode the raw audio is not stored at all — only the transcribed text is written to your own disk, under your own user account.
Because of this, for the content of your conversations we are not a controller or a processor: we never receive that data. The person who starts the recording is the one who decides why and how it is processed, and is therefore the controller of it.
We do hold a small amount of data as the seller: order and subscription metadata through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. That is covered by our Privacy Policy.
Because the content is never transmitted, the cross-border transfer question does not arise for your meeting content.
What this means for you
On-device processing removes the transfer and vendor-access questions. It does not remove your own obligations. If you record a meeting, you are the one who must have a lawful basis for it, inform the participants, honour their requests about the recording, keep it only as long as you need it, and delete it when you do not. The app gives you the tools — a visible recording notice, local storage you control, and one-click deletion — but the duty is yours.
