Translate My Call: phone calls answered on your computer
Your iPhone rings, you answer on your Mac — and Caliptic translates the call both ways. You hear them in your language, they hear you in theirs. 22 languages, all on your own computer.
How it works
You answer the call on your computer instead of your phone. Caliptic hears the other person through the computer's audio, translates what they say and reads it to you. When you reply, your words are translated and go down the line through Caliptic Mic, a virtual microphone the app installs. The other person just talks on an ordinary phone call.
What you need
A Mac running macOS 14.4 or later, and an iPhone with “Calls on Other Devices” switched on — the same Apple setting that already lets you pick up your phone on your Mac. In Caliptic, choose Two-way mode, allow Screen & System Audio Recording once, and set Caliptic Mic as the system input. No extra hardware, no phone-company service, no SIM changes.
Nothing leaves your computer
Speech recognition and translation both run on your own machine. Call audio is never uploaded and nothing is recorded — the translation happens and is gone. One courtesy, though: tell the other person that a translator is on the line. In many countries that is not just good manners but the law.
Which languages does it cover?
The same 22 languages as the rest of Caliptic, including English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. You pick your language and theirs; the app handles both directions.
Does the other person need the app?
No. They dial your number and talk on an ordinary phone. Nothing is installed on their side and they need no account.
Does this work on Windows?
Caliptic for Windows translates meetings and any other computer audio. Answering a mobile call on the computer, though, relies on Apple's Continuity between iPhone and Mac, so this particular setup is a Mac one.
