Caliptic Translate

Frequently Asked Questions

What Caliptic Translate is, what it costs, which languages it speaks and where your audio goes. Short answer to that last one: nowhere.

What is Caliptic Translate?

Caliptic Translate is an on-device real-time speech translator for Mac and Windows. It translates system audio, meetings, videos, podcasts and face-to-face conversations without sending audio to the cloud.

How much does it cost?

There is a free tier with no daily quota: sessions run 40 minutes and a quick reset gives you a fresh one, with all 22 languages included. Pro removes the reset for $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year.

Which languages are supported?

22 languages, all included in the free tier: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian. The interface speaks all 22 too, with full right-to-left support for Arabic.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Download the app and start translating. Since the work happens on your computer, there is nothing to sign in to and no usage for us to meter.

How accurate is it?

It is built for spoken conversation, and that is where it is strongest: meetings, calls, lectures, videos and podcasts. A clear microphone or clean system audio matters more than anything else. Heavy background noise, several people talking at once or very specialised jargon will cost accuracy — as they would for a human interpreter.

Is my audio recorded or stored anywhere?

No. Audio is processed as it arrives and then discarded; nothing is uploaded and no recording is kept for us to see. The simplest way to confirm it is to switch off networking — Caliptic carries on translating exactly as before.
