On-Device Meeting Notes
Caliptic Translate writes down what was said in your meeting — on your own computer. No bot joins the call, no audio is uploaded, and the raw recording is never even saved.
It listens the way you do
Meeting mode takes the audio your computer is already playing — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, anything — together with your own microphone, and writes both down with timestamps. Nothing is installed inside the meeting app, and the other participants see no extra attendee in the list.
The recording is never saved
Most tools upload your meeting so a server can transcribe it, then keep the audio. Caliptic does neither. Recognition happens on your machine as the meeting runs, and the audio is discarded as it goes — only the text is written to your own disk, under your own account. You can rename a meeting, label the speakers, export it as Markdown or plain text, or delete it in one click. There is no cloud sync and no account.
What it does not do
Meeting mode writes a transcript. It does not write a summary, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. It separates speakers and labels them Person 1, Person 2 — an estimate, not an identification; you give them names if you want. It does not translate: for that, use one of the translation modes. And it cannot tell you whether you are allowed to record — that depends on where you and the other participants are, and it is the one thing you must settle before you press start.
Does a bot join my meeting?
No. Caliptic listens to the audio your own computer is already playing, so there is nothing to invite and nothing for the others to see. The participant list stays exactly as it was.
Is the audio saved anywhere?
No. The audio is recognised as the meeting runs and discarded immediately — it is not written to disk at all. What is saved is the text: on your own computer, under your own user account, with no cloud copy and no account. You can delete a meeting in one click.
Am I allowed to record a meeting?
That depends on where you and the other participants are, and it is not answered by where the data is processed. Some countries let a participant record without telling anyone; others make it a criminal offence unless everyone consents. The safe rule everywhere is to say so before you start and get a clear yes. We keep a country-by-country guide at Recording and consent.
