Caliptic Translate vs MeetingParrot

Two apps that solve the same problem in the same shape: a window beside your call, no bot in the participant list. The real difference is where the audio gets processed.

What MeetingParrot does well

It runs alongside Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack and Discord as a floating window, with no plugin and no bot in the participant list — the same approach we take. Its site lists 32 languages, more than our 22; it clones your voice for the outgoing translation; and it is free on macOS.

Where Caliptic differs

MeetingParrot's own site says it is powered by OpenAI and ElevenLabs, which means the meeting audio is sent to those services to be processed. Caliptic runs the speech and translation models on your own machine, so the audio never leaves it and translation keeps working with no connection at all. Caliptic also runs on Windows, not only macOS.

Which one to choose

If you want the longest language list and cloud processing is not a concern, MeetingParrot is a reasonable choice and costs nothing on a Mac. If the audio must not leave the machine — work under an NDA, a regulated industry, a secure site — or you need Windows, or you need it to work with no internet, that is what Caliptic is built for.

Do both avoid putting a bot in the meeting?

Yes. Both work alongside the call rather than joining it, so no extra name appears in the participant list. That part of the approach is genuinely the same; the difference is what happens to the audio afterwards.

Which one covers more languages?

MeetingParrot lists 32 languages; Caliptic covers 22. That gap is the trade we made on purpose: models small enough to run on your own machine are also smaller in coverage than models sitting on a server farm. If a language you need is outside our 22, MeetingParrot is the better answer.
